Nicholas has worked in the Insolvency and Recovery industry for over 20 years. During this time he has worked in a number of insolvency and accountancy practices, from larger central London based firms to smaller boutique practices. He met, worked and became close friends with his co-founder Stuart Cottingham in 2002.

Nicholas qualified as a Licensed Insolvency Practitioner in 2010, and shortly afterwards once again teamed up with Stuart, and together they created Libertas.

Nicholas’ strength lays in his hands on approach and his appreciation that there is no ‘one size fits all’ solution to financial distress. Focusing on desired outcomes, he positions himself to give both targeted and creative advice that delivers outcomes not only addressing the short term issues, but that lead towards an obtainable future objective.

Nicholas has worked with, and alongside, banks, lenders, investors, directors and creditors across a variety of industries and so is well placed to advise across all insolvency disciplines.  Nicholas is a fellow member of both the Insolvency Practitioners Association and Association of Business Recovery Professionals.

Outside of work, Nicholas is a devoted family man, happily married with three boys and a dog.  He is a massive sports fan and supporter of Tottenham Hotspurs.  He also likes music, theatre and travel.

With over 25 years of relevant professional experience, Stuart’s background in insolvency, forensic accounting and international fraud investigation & asset tracing provides him with a wealth of experience from which to assist clients. A significant amount of his experience was gained in Big 4 accountancy practices whilst working numerous high profile assignments.

When the opportunity to work with Nicholas again presented itself, setting up a practice built around their shared values, it was too good an opportunity to pass up. Working together, they are able to provide a comprehensive and complete service delivering results that actually matter. Client care and a keen eye on the big picture are a particular strength, as is the straight talking and honest approach he prides himself on.

Stuart primarily works our investigation and asset tracing assignments, whilst also taking the lead on Receivership appointments from banks and lenders.

When Stuart isn’t at work, he splits his time between his passion for sports and all things equine. Wherever possible he also likes to read and travel.
